My name is Shannon Kilpatrick, and I’m a trial and appellate attorney in Bellevue, WA. I have a law practice with my father, Dick Kilpatrick, where we represent individuals and small businesses whose insurance companies have not done what they are supposed to do, as well as those who have been injured by someone else, a corporation, or government agency. Even though trial lawyers get a bad rap, I am proud to call myself one because I love seeking justice and closure for people, so they can move on with their lives.
I also consult on and handle civil appeals, pulling from my experience clerking at the Washington Supreme Court. Handling appeals is very different than handling trial work, and cases on appeal often turn on very different issues than what was argued at the trial court. I enjoy figuring out how each case fits into the larger legal framework.
I’m a native Washingtonian, where I’ve lived all my life except for the three years I spent in Milwaukee, WI for law school. I love sports and enjoy watching the Mariners, Seahawks and Huskies, even though sometimes being a fan is painful. I also enjoy the outdoors and traveling. My goal is to visit every state and every national park in the country.
While the largest part of my practice involves insurance issues and injury cases, I am something of a law geek, so I will sometimes talk about other legal issues that are important or interesting. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Warning: this blog is not legal advice and is not intended to take the place of discussing your legal issues with a lawyer. If you have a legal question, you should consult with a lawyer. It’s really the only way to make sure you’re getting a complete picture of the legal problems you face.
